Scott & WhiteTemple, Texas
Located in Temple, Texas, Scott & White is a not-for-profit, multi-specialty academic medical center affiliated with the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. Founded in 1897, it has become the state’s largest multi-specialty group practice and a nationally recognized teaching hospital with facilities throughout Central Texas. Scott & White was also acknowledged as a Solucient® Top 100 Hospital from 2003 – 2007, ranking it as one of the top fifteen major teaching hospitals in the country.
In January 2007, Scott & White opened the Center for Advanced Medicine (CAM) as a 498-bed full service facility at the campus in Temple. The CAM was planned with the patients in mind. Using healing design principles, design firm Page Southerland Page aimed to create a comfortable, personal experience more like a hotel than a clinical-feeling hospital.
The goals of the interior design plan were to procure furniture for the facility from a single source and to develop a standards program for future renovation in the existing facilities. Nemschoff was quickly identified as the ideal source because of its breadth of line, commitment to quality, and customer service. The lobbies of each healthcare setting were furnished with Pillowback Sofas, custom square back 2700 Series Lounge seating, 2700 Benches, Foxxman Barton, and Cities Tables. Patient rooms feature SleepOver Settees, SleepOver Flop®Sofas, CompactComfort Recliners, 2700 Series Lounge seating, Pristo II Plus Recliners, and Cities Platform Gliders. Exam rooms were equipped with Altair guest seating and Foxxman exam stools.
Scott Liles, Associate Executive Director of Facilities at Scott & White, commented, “Nemschoff was able to provide us with all our furniture needs for waiting rooms, patient rooms and exam rooms. We were able to visit the Nemschoff showroom with our staff and test all options before we made our selection. This was so beneficial to our staff and the project. Nemschoff worked hard with us to make sure we got our orders in on time and educated us on the impact of using certain fabrics, including options we should or should not use for our specific needs. Nemschoff made buying half a million square feet of furniture an easy process.”
